COME OUT AND JOIN US AT THE 3RD ANNUAL TRSSCGP AGILITY TRIAL!

We are looking for any and all fun-loving, hard-working Club members, their families and friends to help at our Agility Trial.  Even if you have never seen an agility trial before we would love to have you come out and volunteer a few hours of your time.  We need workers to set bars, fluff the chute, run leashes and score sheets, set-up and tear-down equipment.  We are willing to mentor you in any job you are interested in.  We had numerous club members who have never done agility volunteer their time last year and they had a blast AND did a fantastic job!  It’s a good opportunity to see what agility is all about and help the Club at the same time.  You can watch some very talented and entertaining dogs and their handlers.  We will also provide you with $5 for lunch if you work a minimum of one hour.  Contact anyone of the Agility Trial Committee members-Rita Slepcevich, Cathy Artis, Elaine Mayowski, Sandy Dehoux, Linda Moore and Walter Piroth-if you are able to help out.  Thank you!

TRSSCGP Agility Match

TRSSCGP SANCTIONED AGILITY MATCH A SUCCESS!

We came ... we set courses ... we conquered!  The Three Rivers Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Pittsburgh AKC Sanctioned Agility Match in Edinboro went off without a hitch on Friday, February 11.  Over sixty agility runs were made on six different courses in four hours -- pretty doggone good for a first time club working with a  provisional judge!  In honor of Valentine's Day, we handed out iced pink heart-shaped dog cookies to all our exhibitors, and those who qualified took home non-regular ribbons and stuffed toys as well.  The rings ran smoothly, the exhibitors loved the courses and a wonderful time was had by all.

We are deeply indebted to Denise Thomas and Countryside Agility for hosting our match.  Denise not only promoted and helped run our match, she also found us a  terrific provisional judge in Jacqueline O'Neill, (author of the book All About Agility) who designed some really nice flowing courses and judged them with great skill and good humor.

Special thanks go out to our crew of hard-working club members: Cathy ("Go When Ready") Artis who timed every class and took care of judge's hospitality; Rita ("The Gate Goddess") Slepcevich who got everyone lined up at the gate so efficiently that there was never a bobble with the scribe sheets; Pete ("Let Me Carry That") Grandillo who hauled around heavy equipment and took wonderful pictures for the website; Debbie ("Just Show Me What to Do") McFarland who cheerfully pitched in on just about any job we gave her despite never having done any of it before; Janet ("The Quiet Storm") Norman who scored, set out ribbons, fixed premiums and ran leashes all at the same time; Walter ("No Problem") Piroth who helped out all afternoon long; Marlana ("Don't Need to Ask Twice") Tice who never stopped smiling and was one of our best course-setters; and Joanna ("A Friend in Need") Fortson for helping out when we really needed her to.  Special thanks go to our assistant scribe and honorary Sheltie-person Heather Peterson, who drove two hours north just so she could play with dogs.

I don't know how you guys managed to work so hard, stay so cheerful and upbeat and still pull off some great agility runs, but it was a pleasure to have you all on board.  I hope we can welcome you all back for the real thing, real soon!

From Karen Rose Cercone, A-Match Chairperson
