title. He is now URO 3, AG II Homespun Quinlan's Crystal Blue Snow in the UKC (they of course do not

recognize his CPE titles, his HIC, DPP, or CGC - oh, well). Cathy Artis

Anne Trosky is still somewhere over the moon and thrilled to report that "Gabriel", CastleGate's

Angel In Disguise, was chosen as Winner's Dog by judge Phil Wendling at the Central New York

Shetland Sheepdog Club Specialty on November 12, 2011 in Syracuse, NY. This was not only Gabe's

first 3 points, but also, his first Specialty Major!!! Gabe does it in style!! Gabe was beautifully presented

by Katie Grohowalski...Thank you again Katie! Thank you, too, to Julie Iverson for helping with Gabe

that weekend and to Grandma Lynn Uram for sharing in our excitement! Gabe is looking forward to his

next road trip with Katie and Julie! : ) Having lost our dear Bailey only six days prior to Gabe's win, I

can't help but believe that Gabe's brother Bailey gave him a little nudge in the ring that day and said

"win this one for Mom and me" and is smiling down on us all.

NEW ADDITION

Anne and Bill Trosky are just delighted to be the new co-owners of "Indi", Gypsy's Indigo Angel. Indi

is co-owned with breeder Barb Westerman, more fondly known as "Grammy Barb". Indi is from the

"Gabriel", CastleGate's Angel In Disguise x "Windi", Karefree Gypsy Wind NA NAJ litter. This was the

first litter that Gabe sired so we are so blessed and excited to have both Gabe and one of his puppies in

our home. Indi is a beautiful bi-blue male with a wonderful temperament. He is full of spunk and

kisses! We are all looking forward to what the future holds in store for Indi!!

at the Cleveland All Breed Training Club Agility Trial in mid October. At the trial, Bryce earned two

we were especially proud of Bryce’s accomplishments. Also, Dawson earned three double Q’s. Going

MACH points over the three day trial resulting in Dawson earning his MACH 6 title.

runs that Mom messed up.) Cathy Artis

Walt Piroth reports that...oZZy entered the wonderful world of Preferred Agility in February. We’ve

gone through Novice, Open and Excellent A. We finished our AXP title in 9 trials, the minimum. And

our AJP title in 11 trials. It would have also been 9 except I sorta got lost and oZZy dropped a bar.

Dropping a bar at 12” is unforgivable. Guess that’s what you get with a farm dog. Anyway we actually

placed in every run. Not something we normally do. We’re on our way to our MXP and MJP titles. I

hope oZZy understands nothing but Q’s are acceptable. Any mess ups and it’s back to the farm for

him.

Sandra Irish tells us that...Roadsho Irish Gael Winds, MX, MXJ, OF (Gaelyn) won 2 first places and 2

second places at a November CPE trial at Four Seasons K-9 . She placed first in Standard 12" Level 3

two runs he Q'd with a second and third places with high enuf scores to earn his first 16 points towards

his Rally Champion. This was after we almost had Sheltie stew. Quincy was doing his Honor stay (a

down) when the working dog, a huge German Shepherd, left his handler and came over and poked

Quincy ! I never moved so fast - gave sign to "stay" / put myself between the two dogs / while yelling

(and I do mean YELL) at the handler to get her dog all simultaneously while not touching Quincy. It was

over before the slow Judge responded. AND QUINCY HELD ! Kerry got his last two legs to complete

leg to finish her CL3-F title, and earned a Level 4 Colors, 2 Level 4 Wildcard & 2 Level 4 Standard legs.

At the same trial, Hannah earned a Level 4 Full House, and a Level 5 Snooker, Colors & Wildcard leg.

Lynn Uram tells us that...On July 17, 2011, Zelda finished her MACH2 at the CABTC Trial in North

Olmsted, OH on her last run of the weekend! I was very proud of Zelda for running flawlessly and fast

despite my nerves. She knew she had done something good, and she happy danced to the max at the

end of our run. Zelda earned her second MACH in less than six months after her first one!

AND...On July 29th-31st, Geraldo and I attended an agility trial at the Conneaut Lake Bark Park in

Conneaut Lake, PA. That was our first outdoor agility trial in over three years, and despite the heat and

high humidity, we had so much fun!! Geraldo ran beautifully for me all weekend, and we were within

one run of having a perfect weekend! Geraldo qualified on 8 of his 9 runs (the only NQ was my fault),

garnered three placements in Excellent B, and earned his first ever QQQ's!! It was a dream weekend

from start to finish!! Much to her chagrin, Zelda had to skip this trial due to being in season.

Barb Westerman reports that...On July 25th & 26th the Gypsy girls ("Sera" & "Misti") competed their

first agility trial (CPE - at Flash Point Agility in Marengo, Ohio). They each were entered in 1 run each

day. “Sera” (Gypsys Bella Sera) qualified with a 1st place in 1st Round of Wildcard Level 1 & 3rd place

in the 1st Round of Jumpers Level 1. Sera’s littermate sister “Misti” (Gypsys Moonlight Mist) qualified

during the 2nd Round of Wildcard Level 1, with a 1st place. I was especially thrilled with how well they

handled running in such high heat and humidity, though Misti decided 1/2 way through her Sunday run

(Round 2 Jumpers Level 1) that it was just TOO hot!

Lyn And Walt Robertson are very proud to report that...Kaskade’s Tia Maria competed at the Three

Rivers Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Pittsburgh AKC agility trial on June 18th and 19th, 2011. Tia

not only qualified for the first time in her career but finished in 1st place for Novice A Fast on Sunday.

Nice father’s day gift for “backup” handler Walt. We’re hooked on agility now.

Quincy ran in Splash n Dash's CPE Agility trials August 6 -7 at PISA and did pretty well. In seven runs

he had six Q's that included two first, one second, and one third places. And he finished his CL2-H title;

all his other runs were in level three classes. I'm really proud of him and can't wait for the pictures from

the photographer in a few weeks. So he is now AG I, URO 2 Homespun Quinlan's Crystal Blue Snow

CL2-R, CL2-H, CL2-F, HIC, DPP, CGC. Cathy Artis

Peter & Yvette Grandillo Jr. are very proud to announce that MACH 4 Suntera Cammi Grandillo

MXP2 MJP2 CD CGC TDI earned her PAX and PACH title on the very same run at the Greater

Pittsburgh Golden Retriever agility trial on July 22, 2011. All Cammi needed was one QQ and she

earned it while coming in 1st in both jumpers and standard. With her new titles and approaching the age

of ten, Cammi is now retiring to chasing the ball, or better yet, being chased with the ball in her mouth. It

is very cute listening to Cammi bark with the ball in her mouth. At the same trial, MACH 5 Suntera

Dawson Q’d 5 of 6 runs in Excellent B 20” earning a 3rd and 4th place finish. Also at the same trial,

Suntera Bryce MX MXJ Q’d 4 of 6 runs in Excellent B 16” earning a 1st, 2nd, & 4th place finish. It was a

very successful weekend for the three dogs. While all the dogs were exhausted from the high

temperatures, long days of showing, they naturally made some room for some cool ice cream.

Terri Poirier tells us that...Trevor has earned more accolades and successes during the past two

weekend of agility trials including the Gateway Agility and the Greater St Louis Shetland Sheepdog club

trials. He earned his Agility Excellent Preferred title at the Gateway Agility trial. Now that he is back in

Excellent B, he now has two QQ and 106 points toward his PACH title. He has five master jumper

Elaine Kelvington reports that...Today, July 15 at the Grand River Kennel Club Dogshow at Madison

OH, "Sharisse" aka Kelvington's Dancing 'N Moonlite was Winner's bitch and best of winners. She is

now at 12 points, needing one major to finish. It is majors next weekend at the Nita Nee shows, we are

hoping and praying that one of those has her name on it. Thanks for all of the good thoughts and

prayers today. It was a long trip. I was very lucky, that Dave agreed to go with me, help hold dogs, and

drive! For a while there, we thought he might have to take one of the puppies back in for winners.

VBG Lucky for him, I found someone else ringside to give us a hand..

Barb Westerman tells us that...I'm pleased to report that my young bi-black girl "Sera" (Gypsys Bella

Sera) was Winners Bitch/Best Opposite Sex today (7/16) at the Ashtabula Kennel Club show in

Madison, OH. This was Sera's first point and it was extra special, as it was from the Bred By class.

Lynn Uram reports that...On July 21, 2011, CastleGate's White Lightning was WD/BOS under Brian

Meyer for his first point at the Nita Nee show. Tequila is the puppy we kept from our Calvin x Zelda litter

last year, and we're very pleased with how he's maturing. As always, Tequila was beautifully presented

in the ring by Judy Stachowski. Zelda finished her MACH2 on July 17th, and Tequila got his first

point four days later. Mother and son definitely had a good week!!

Cheswick on June 4th & 5th, Homespun Cubbie Blue BN, RE, NA, OAJ, CL2-R, CL2-H, CL2-S, CL2-F,

JS-N, GS-N “Addisyn” had a Perfect Weekend qualifying in 10 out of 10 runs, earning a Level 3

Standard, Handler, Snooker, Jackpot and Fun leg & a Level 4 Standard, Wildcard, Snooker and 2

Jumpers legs, and finishing her CL3-R, CL3-H and CL3-S titles. At the same trial, U-AGI Homespun

Sweet Home Chicago CD, BN, RE, AX, MXJ, OAP, MJP, NF, AG.I.J, NAC, NJC, OGC, RS-O, JS-O,

Terri Poirier tells us that...Trevor, (CH MACH2 Saranac Bi Chance. CD.HT, OF, VCX) was moved

down to preferred at the May Aussie nationals. He has now earned his novice and open preferred titles

in both JWW and standard. He also earned his first Excellent A preferred standard leg. The novice

titles were completed at the Decatur, Al shows in May and the open titles at the Goldent Ret of Greater

St Louis shows in June. He has earned 7 out of 7 legs in standard preferred with 5 first places and 2

second places and all but 2 runs being perfect scores. He has earned 6 out of 7 legs in JWW with 6

first places and perfect scores. Thus OAP and OJP can now be added to his name. Trevor will be 10

yrs young in Oct. Even though we had all the QQs for MACH3, we decided it would be more fun to run

in preferred. It is always better to come down when he still was running great in the regular

classes. This way we can earn his PAX, and the new PACH title within a couple of years or less.

Lynn Uram tells us that…On June 24th-26th, we attended the ACI Agility Trial in Indianapolis for the

first time, and we had a blast!! Zelda had a perfect weekend and qualified on all six of her runs.

Geraldo did a nice job too. He qualified on four of his six runs. Zelda just needs 41 points now for her

MACH2! We'll be eager to get back into the agility ring again in mid-July!

Julie Iverson reports that...Well Homespun has been very busy. Calvin first won an Award of Merit at

the ASSA National with Katie handling. That was one of my goals but I didn't expect it so soon. It was

very exciting to see him make cut after cut and then make it through the final selection. Calvin and

Katie then went on to win many more shows, the latest being the 4 day cluster in Waynesburg. Calvin

made a clean sweep by going BOB all 4 days then also won a Group 2, 2 Group 3s and a Group 4. He

12th, Damingo Lock And Load, OAJ, "Locke", was Winners Dog and Best of Winners for a 3 point major

to finish his Breed Championship under Judge Debra Long Gschwender. Locke is co-owned and was

bred by Joanna Fortson. He was exclusively handled to all of his points by Marlana Tice and is the

thanks to Joanna Fortson for letting Locke be "my boy" and to Marlana Tice for loving Locke and

teaching him to show like his Uncle GCh Marko! Locke finished just two weeks after his older brother,

CH Damingo Young Gun, and both boys enjoyed a big party at the TRSSCGP Agility Trial!

Rusty Cromer & Debbie Hull tell us that...We are quite proud to announce our new litter who arrived

amid fireworks of their own on the morning of July 4th. Masterpiece Allegria, our bi black major pointed

Bode daughter gave birth to 2 bi black males, 1 bi black female and 1 bi blue female. Their sire is Ch.

Lochlyn Dream Catcher, ROM "Nemo". Ria and babies were perfectly fine. Debbie however, needed

time to recuperate from an asthma attack brought on by their unexpected early arrival. Let's just say, it

was a morning wake up call unlike any other.

Quincy competed at the CPE Agility Trials at Washingtonville this weekend and was on quite a roll. He

had three runs each day (all level 2 at 16 ") and Q'd in all with five first and one second places. He got

legs in Standard, Wild Card, Jumpers, Colors and non-reg Jackpot. The two legs in Standard

completed his CL2-R title. It was sooo hot and humid, dogs were crawling and one handler had heat

exhaustion. He ran his heart out for me. I don't think he has moved from in front of the fan since we got

home!

AND...At the Splash 'n Dash weekend CPE Agility trials June 4 - 5 at PISA, Quincy was on another real

Agility roll. Saturday he had four runs with three Q's (that included two clean runs on his part but time

faults on Mom's part alas) with a second and a fourth place, to complete his CL2-F title. Then on

Sunday he had three runs with three Q's (that included three clean runs on his part, tho on only one this

time Mom again lost a couple points on time) with two first places and a fourth place. Cathy Artis

we love most---agility!! Geraldo qualified on five of his six runs, and Zelda qualified on four of her six

the remaining MACH points for it to bed too. Zelda has 14 QQ's toward her MACH2 and has

accumulated quite a few MACH points toward it as well. Tom and I celebrated our great weekend by

taking Geraldo and Zelda to Brewster's for doggie cones!!

that day was Gunner's younger brother, Damingo Lock and Load, OAJ, "Locke" who took the Major

buzz around the ring. So, Thank you again to Tray and the entire PaRay team for the excellent work

that they do!! Thank you to “Grandma Lynn” Uram for sitting next to me and sharing that special

Darla and Kyle Annonio announce that Sir Kobington Annonio RN OA AXJ OJP NF NFP  (Kobie) placed 1st in his JWW preferred run in Excellent A class with a time of 27 sec at the Sheltie Nationals. Not bad for a 12 year old dog.  Kobie really enjoyed parade of veterans at Nationals.  Kaskade Annonio's Circle of Life ( Kaleb) competed in his 1st Rally Novice B class at the Sheltie Nationals and received a high score of 93.  Not bad for his 1st rally class and being so young.  PS. Kaleb is a Kasper and Cinder pup!  Kaleb also competed in sheepherding and almost Qed on those tough sheep.  We just had to get around one more circle.  The sheep were not moving off the fence.  This was Kaleb's 1st time in the sheepherding competition as well.  Kaskade Kassandra Of Annonio RN PT NA OAJ NAP NJP NF NFP (Kassie) competed in agility and sheepherding at the Sheltie Nationals.  Although she did not Q we report so was so darn cute in the sheepherding event.  This was her 1st time at the Started level.  CH Kaskade of Annonio's Friendly Ghost  RN HT( Kasper) also competed in agility and sheepherding as well.  Neither competition was boring to watch.  This was Kasper's first time in the PT ring competing. He just needed to reverse the sheep and he would have Qed.  Again like his son the sheep were not planning on leaving the fence. It was a great time.

The Kaskade shelties and their handlers did well at Nationals.  We’re proud of all of them--  winners or not.

HERDING:  Chani, (Kasper x Cinders) 9 1/2 months old, co-owned with Cheryl Sacerich of Ohio was

one of only two in her HT class of 18 who qualified.

Terri Poirier reports a great weekend at the Golden Retriever Agility trial for April 9th and 10th.  Trevor earned 3 out of 4 qualifying runs including a 3rd place in jumpers and two first places in standard. He earned 63 MACH points. Thus he now has 39 QQs and only needs 13 more points for his MACH2.

AND... Well Trevor finished his MACH2 over the ASSA nationals weekend. The great thing about this was having my MACH bar signed by many of the sheltie fanciers during Nationals week.  I was even able to have Survivor Jane Hammett sign it! Thus Trevor is now CH MACH2 Saranac Bi Chance, CD, HT, OF, VCX.

because she is more at home sleeping on the bed than running laps around a ring. I am sure she is

flying around the ring for Everett. She has been handled to her class wins by Katie Grohowalski and

Cadie Pruss has taken her back in for breed, select and her BOS. At the same show, Audrey (Wynstar

At the Mid-Kentucky KC on March 17th AKC/UKC Ch. U-Grand Ch. Wynstone's Belle Amie, co-owned

thanks to all the people that helped and encouraged us along the way. It is always so nice to hear how

you make such a good team or you can tell he loves being with you. Thanks to all of you. With Ozzy’s

Lynn Uram reports that...On February 10, 2011, Bliss (CastleGate's Seventh Heaven) was Winners Bitch for two points in Indianapolis under Judge Linda Robey!!  She now has nine points toward her breed championship.  As always, Bliss was beautifully presented in the ring by Judy Stachowski.

Elizabeth Brinkley tells us that…UKC Ch. Dante's Rocket Man took Winner's Dog at our specialty for a 4 pt major under judge Carolyn Ing on Feb. 6th and a 3pt Major Reserve at the Blue Ridge SSC Specialty under judge Sue Christie on Feb. 12th. Rocket is co-bred by myself, Gloria Baughman and Judy Cooper. This brings his point total to 8 pts. one major all from the Bred By Exhibitor class.  Also received an email on Friday Feb. 11th that I am now an AKC Breeder of Merit.

Bill and Anne Trosky are thrilled to announce that CastleGate's Angel In Disguise, "Gabriel", won a four point major reserve at the Indy Winter Classic under judge Raymond Filburn, Jr. on February 13th. Gabe was beautifully presented over the weekend by Judy Stachowski.  We are grateful to Judy for bringing out the best in Gabe.  Thank you, also, to Grandma Lynn Uram for cheering us on in spirit. Gabe gave me a great Valentine's Day present a day early!  We are looking forward to showcasing Gabe at the ASSA National in St. Louis.

Brags from the January 2011 Newsletter

Kaskade shelties had a very nice time at the Cleveland Classic. Kipp took 2nd place to WD two days in the 9-12 month puppy class. Kaleb, in his first show ever behaved very well and acted like he was born for showing. Archer, qualified 2:3 in JWW and took first place both days. Charm also qualified 2 times in JWW and FAST and took first place both times. She had lovely runs the other two days with one day ng'ing because of her handler. Journey, at 13 years of age, had lovely JWW runs and enjoyed herself. Cinders, qualified 3:3 days to earn her Rally Novice title and Willow was 3:3 in Novice obedience. This gave her her CD title and, at 10 years of age, her final point to earn her VCX title. She is now Ch Merry Lea's Willow in the Wind, OAJ, OA, HT, RN, CD, VCX. We are very proud of Willow and Willow is extremely happy that she can get back to her primary job---laying on the couch daring the other dogs to join her. A special thanks to Jackie Herbein for her help in getting Willow and Carol ready for the CD.

Lynn Uram tells us that...The CastleGate Kids had a great weekend! Things started off with a bang when Bliss was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, and Best of Opposite Sex under Judge Charles Trotter on January 8th. Our heartfelt thanks to Judy Stachowski for presenting Bliss so beautifully. Zelda, Geraldo, and I had fun too at the EKC Agility Trial in Edinboro, PA on January 7th-9th. Zelda QQ'ed twice at this trial, so she just needs one more QQ for her first MACH. Geraldo had some really nice runs too, and he just needs 22 additional MACH points for his MACH 2. It's going to be an exciting winter!!
