THIS ‘N THAT NOV / DEC 2005
Lynn and Tom Uram tell us that...On December 10, 2005, our second litter arrived! Elsa (Kelbren Come Hither) presented us with five lovely puppies in the wee hours of the morning. She had three tri boys and two blue merle girls. Elsa's litter was sired by Ch Patented Emprise Forevermore ("Everett"). All of the puppies are active and vigorous, and as an added bonus, they all appear to be non-white factored. This is Elsa's first litter, and she's doing a great job with the puppies. A special thanks to Julie Iverson and Debbie Miller-Gurchak for coming out in the middle of the night to help these little ones make their grand entrance into the world.

THIS ‘N THAT SEPTEMBER 2005
Joyce Cummings tells us that...On Saturday July 23rd at the Golden Retriever Club AKC agility trial in Cheswick, Pa., Cummings Tequila Gold NAP,AJP, NAJ, CGD, TDI (Tiki-a Shih-Tzu) got her Open Agility Jumpers Title with a 1st place for the 8" height class. Sunday she moved into Exec A Jumpers and got her first Leg in Exec A jumpers with another 1st place finish in the Exec A 8" height class.
Walter Piroth has been doing some investigating and reports that…There were some interesting agility stats in the September 2005 issue of the AKC Events Calendar magazine. “AKC Agility Stats mid year totals for 2005” were printed in the agility section of the magazine. The AKC used four different criteria for their rankings; 1- Lifetime Top (20) Overall Dogs based on MACH Titles, 2- Top (20) Overall Dogs based on Points, 3- Top (20) Overall Dogs based on Double Qs and 4- Top (5) Dogs Ranked by Breed based on points.
I went over the numbers and ranked everything based on breed. That is, how many Shelties and how many other breeds were in each group. The top two breeds. For the first three categories; Lifetime Top 20 Overall Dogs based on MACH Titles, 6 were Shelties and 4 were Border Collies. In the second group, Top 20 Overall Dogs based of Points, 11 were Shelties and 3 were Papillion’s and in the third group, Top Overall Dogs based on Doubles Q’s, 10 were Shelties and 4 were Golden Retrievers. The fourth group, Top 5 Dogs ranked by Breed based on points, was very interesting. Shelties were first with an average points score of 1592 points and a range of 1509 - 1683 points. Five dogs with very close numbers. Second were Border Collies with and average score of 1283 points and a range of 1065 - 1825 points. A higher top score but on average lower and a fairly large range.
I think what this points out is that more of our dogs do consistently better than any other breed in agility. So what else is new? Oh yea, oZZy knows he’d be somewhere in the AKC top 20 rankings if he could find a decent handler.
Walter also tells us that...I started an Agility Yahoo Group a few months ago primarily for the locals here in the Washington PA area. We're not exactly overwhelmed with posts to the group so it's time to expand the area of coverage. We'll start be inviting anyone from TRSSCGP that's involved in or interested in agility. If you would like to join send me your email address and I'll send you an invitation. My email address is: wpiroth@verizon.net . The Yahoo Group is Washington Agility Group i.e. W_A_G. The web address is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/W_A_G/

Gloria Hansen tells us that...we have to mention the Novice Standard, (second place) leg Ken put on our very stubborn PW Corgi, Belaire Hallmark Maquis....Chakotay, at the WCOTC trials.
Joanna and Larry Fortson tell us that...their standard poodle, Wall Street Damingo High Dividend, "Diva" got her first leg in rally obedience at the Lorain show on August 14th.
CONDOLENCES
Ed McConnaughey's mother Anna McConnaughey, also a Club member, passed away suddenly this month. Both Ed and Anna have been members of TRSSCGP since 1991. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ed and his family.
Walter Piroth tells us that…A few weeks ago Lassie, I mean Ozzy started this frantic barking and running up and down our upstairs steps trying to gain our immediate attention. It was about 4 in the morning and my son Matt and I were in bed. This wasn’t your virtually constant “for your information; something is going on that may be of interest” Sheltie bark. The one you need to learn to block out. This was a “your immediate attention is required now” bark. The urgency so intense my son was actually out of bed before me. He ran down the steps with Ozzy, followed him to the front door, opened it and found our little girl cat Jordie sitting on the porch waiting to be let in. Jordie’s an inside cat and an accomplished escape artist. She apparently got out the previous evening, was out most of the night and decided at 4 she wanted in. I don’t know if Ozzy’s a hero for rescuing Jordie or if Jordie is slowly gaining total control around here.
Ken and Gloria Hansen tell us that...A big treat for Ken was putting his first Novice Standard Preferred leg on our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Chakotay.."Belaire Hallmark Maquis" with a "Second Place". This was on Saturday at the Golden Triangle Obedience Training Club Trial.
AND...Oakwind Belaire Naughty and Nice "Starr" a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, took Winners Bitch at the Lancaster KC show in May. Handled by Ferebe Simons.
AND...Oakwind Belaire Naughty N Nice "Starr" a Pembroke Welsh Corgi at the Burlington County Kennel Club show on June 5th, went Winners Bitch and Best Of Opposite Sex for a 3pt major win. This is Star's second major for a total so far of 7pts. She also over the same weekend took a Major Reserve.
AND...She also went Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex at the Shenandoah Valley KC show on Sunday June 12 for another point. She is beautifully handled by Ferebe Simons.
Gloria and Ken Hansen are happy to announce that... they will be having a guest stud dog visiting at Belaire for a few months. CH Heartsong Renaissance Man (sired by Ch Zion's Man About Town NA HT ROM ex Ch Winhaven Fame On Fire), bred and owned by Judy Stachowski. He will be courting the girls while visiting and Ken working on some performance fun stuff with him as well. We are excited and want to welcome him to the area.....Thanks Judy:)!
Joanna Fortson tells us that...On Saturday May 21 at the St. Clairsville, Ohio show, Lorwin's Gabriel at Damingo "Gabby" (toy Poodle) took BOW/BOV under Dr. David G. Doane. She now has 7 points.
Carl *
1942 - 2005
Our Club recently lost a good member and devoted Sheltie person when Carl
died unexpectedly at the age of sixty-three. He and his wife Judy had
been members since 1999. He frequently worked behind the scene,
supporting the Club and Judy's Club projects, whenever his health
permitted. He was a soft touch for bashful and timid Shelties
especially. Our prayers go out for him and Judy.
With Sympathy
Bob *, husband of and father of Patty, died April 18, 2005 after a brief illness. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
* Last names purposely removed. If you wish to see the last names, please view the on-line newsletter.
Briana writes... I got my sheltie on 3/8/2005 and I feel very lucky that Rusty Cromer is taking a chance on me with my first show pup. We start our puppy class next month. I also plan to show in conformation, junior handling and agility. I hope to learn a lot from members of the club! His call name is Tigger and I am still trying to decide on his registered name. I hope members can help me at the next meeting! Thank You again Rusty!

January 2005 Newsletter
Pembroke Welsh Corgi, "Belaire Hallmark's Maquis" (Chakotay) owned by Gloria and Ken Hansen earned 2 rally novice legs at the WCOTC New Years Trials, which was not an easy task to say the least, however scores all ranged in the mid to high 90's so we were really pleased.
Elaine Mayowski and Kyrie would like to congratulate their Lhasa Apso "Elijah" on earning his first Rally Obedience Title at the Westmoreland County Obedience Trials on Jan 1st & 2nd. Way to go "Little Man". We Love You...
